The perspective

A career spent making marketing work across very different type of business.

I’m Zachary Burgeson. Over nearly two decades, I’ve worked across startups to multibillion-dollar companies and helped small businesses alike. Today my work includes executive leadership across marketing and advertising. I know how different the right answer looks when the team is one person versus hundreds.

Commerce and growth

Connecting marketing to the business.

From acquisition and conversion to customer retention, I look at the whole path to revenue and the decisions that move it.

Leadership and clarity

Making complex choices easier.

Budgets, agencies, priorities, reporting, team capacity. The useful answer is one you can act on, not a thicker presentation.

How I think

One person who sees the whole picture.

Ask the real question.

Maybe it’s about an ad campaign. Maybe it’s whether your website, your agency, or your customer follow-up is actually doing its job. We start with what you’re trying to accomplish.

Get an honest perspective.

I’ll tell you what I see, where I’d focus, and what I’d question. Sometimes a conversation is enough. Sometimes the work calls for a more involved partnership.

Questions worth asking

The questions behind the marketing.

You don't need to have a brief or a budget ready. These are the kinds of conversations I have with business owners.

How do I know where to advertise?

Start with who your best customers are, how they find a business like yours, and what happens after they click or call. The right channel depends on your customers and your economics, not which platform is fashionable.

How much should I spend on advertising?

Enough to learn something useful, with a clear idea of what a new customer is worth and what you can afford to acquire one. I can help you work backward from those numbers before you commit to a bigger budget.

How can I retain the customers I've worked so hard to acquire?

Look at what happens after the first sale: follow-up, email and CRM, repeat purchase opportunities, and the reasons customers come back. Retention starts with knowing who bought, what they need next, and when to reach out.

How can I get a stronger presence on Google or social media?

First we look at what someone sees when they search for you or encounter your business. Then we decide which improvements matter most, from your site and local presence to content, reviews, and paid campaigns.

I need website help. Can you do it?

Yes. I can help shape the strategy, copy, structure, and experience, and I can do focused hands-on work when it's the right fit. If a project needs a larger build, I can help define it and work with the right specialists.

Can you help me make sense of AI and local SEO?

Yes. We can look at how customers search now, where your business appears, and what information your site needs to make your expertise clear. I'll help separate useful changes from hype and prioritize what is worth your time.

Are you really just a trusted advisor, or do you do the work too?

Both, depending on what you need. Sometimes a candid second opinion is enough. Other times I can take on a defined piece of work or help direct the people doing it. Either way, you work with me directly.

A personal relationship

A few good relationships. Real attention for each.

I work directly with a small number of business owners at a time. If we’ve met and something is on your mind, start with a conversation. We’ll find out whether I’m the right person to help.
